Interfilk Guest: Creede Lambard

Toastmasters: Jeff & Maya Bohnhoff

Jeff and Maya Bohnhoff have been playing music together for a long time. Their exact origins are lost in the mists of history, but most authorities seem to agree that they joined forces musically in 1979. For many years, their true danger lay dormant, until in 1995 they encountered filk music, and it became clear what they were destined to do - ruin classic rock for as many people as they possibly could. To that end, Jeff, with occasional help from Maya, began an unabated spree of parodic crimes against the Beatles, the Who, Queen, Steely Dan, and many others too numerous to count. Their various crimes and offenses are documented in three albums of (mostly) classic rock parody - Retro Rocket Science, Aliens Ate My Homework! and Grated Hits. In order to elude pursuit, they also sometimes perform and record original songs, such as those on their albums Manhattan Sleeps and Möbius Street.

You can also download their albums and/or individual songs from CD Baby. Search for "Bohnhoff".

They also have some songs and a somewhat less facetious bio available on MySpace.

They have been known to brazenly perform both their parodies and original songs with nothing between them and potentially outraged audiences but acoustic guitars. Despite this, they have so far evaded serious injury.

They have been officially branded as miscreants, having received two Pegasus awards for excellence in filking, one in 2003 for Best Parody for their song Knights in White Satin, and another in 2005 for Best Performer. They have been musical guests of honor at conventions all over the US and the world, including England, Germany, Canada, and all the major filk music conventions in the US.

Always looking for new avenues to expand his criminal empire, Jeff started uploading videos of some of their parodies to YouTube in late 2010. His first effort Midichlorian Rhapsody went viral, reaching hundreds of thousands of new, unsuspecting innocents.

In addition to helping Jeff spread musical chaos and disorder, Maya is a professional writer, with many books and stories published. Her latest novel, Star Wars: Shadow Games, written in collaboration with Michael Reeves, debuted on the New York Times top 100 best seller list.

The convention will include:
Concerts with our Guests and others Songwriting and Performance Workshops
The Totally Tacky and Tasteless Revue A very special Kid Friendly Area
One Shots! Dare to share! Filkers from up and down West Coast and elsewhere, including some regular LAFA attendees.
